Kahala Hotel & Resort
REDI led the design of an innovative rainwater capture project for the Kahala resort, which includes capturing rainwater from three drain areas of the hotel’s roof. Two of the drainage areas (1,061 sqft and 2,178 sqft) include capturing stormwater using rainwater catchment tanks. The water from the tanks will be used to irrigate landscaped areas surrounding the tanks. The third 934 sqft drainage area will enter into a ~30’ long grattix box. The grattix box will also serve as a trickling filter for an aquaponics fishpond during dry periods. For larger storm events, water from the catchment tanks and the grattix box will overflow into a native plant rain garden.
