Kamehameha Schools 'Aina & Water Assessments
Project type
Regenerative Design, Water Conservation/ Nonpotable Reuse
Location
Island-wide, Hawaiʻi
Client
Kamehameha Schools
REDI conducted comprehensive site water assessments for Kamehameha Schools (KS) to identify opportunities for water conservation, reuse, and groundwater recharge across Priority 1 and Priority 2 campuses. Priority 1 sites included KS headquarters at Kawaiahaʻo Plaza and the four main educational campuses on Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island. Priority 2 sites included the Keauhou Shopping Center and Kahaluʻu Ma Kai on Hawaiʻi Island. Each assessment included economic evaluations to determine return on investment and alignment with KS’s educational mission. REDI trained Kupu interns to collect site-specific data using a custom mobile application, and used GIS tools and modeling software to analyze the findings. Results were communicated through user-friendly maps and infographics embedded in final reports, enabling data-driven decision-making for campus-scale water management.
