water policy

21st Century sustainable water management often requires creating or updating existing water policies to protect the resource as well as provide incentives for sustainable practices. Sustainable water policies provide the regulatory framework for long-range water infrastructure planning, meeting water resource management goals, supporting sustainable development and are critical for building resiliency and disaster risk reduction.  REDI offers water policy consulting services for regulators, governments and the private sector that evaluate the potential social, ecological and economic impacts for incentivizing various sustainable water management practices.  Often these services support policy development to reduce energy demands from the treatment and conveyance of water (Water-Energy Nexus) to not only reduce the carbon footprint but importantly to also achieve lifecycle cost savings.
